Northwest Boychoir and Vocalpoint! Seattle's fourth Christmas album: 'Tis the Season! The traditional, sacred pieces were recorded at Bastyr University's chapel (formerly St. Thomas Center) with musicians from Seattle's professional orchestra and chamber groups. The popular pieces were recorded at Triad Studios in Redmond. The Northwest Boychoir, with 150 members ages 6 to 13, is regarded among the absolute best boy choirs nationwide. Officially proclaimed the state's "Singing Ambassadors" by Governor Christine Gregoire, the Northwest Boychoir has performed in Europe, Great Britain, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the U.S. Most recently, we concluded a national tour to the East Coast, performing throughout Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, with a special performance at the magnificent Washington National Cathedral. The choir received standing ovations and rave reviews. In February 2006, the Northwest Boychoir joined with the Seattle Symphony and Symphony Chorale for a special performance of Orff's Carmina Burana. Then in March, we've been invited to perform at the prestigious American Choral Director's Association Convention in Portland, where we will sing Mozart's Missa Brevis in F Major, in celebration of Mozart's 250th year. In the spring, the Northwest Boychoir is pleased to collaborate with Music of Remembrance for a production of the Hans Krasa's children's opera Brundibár, under the baton of Gerard Schwarz. Brundibár, which will be presented at Benaroya Hall, will later be recorded and released nationally under the Naxos label. The Northwest Boychoir is frequently contracted by Hollywood producers and composers to record for movie soundtracks and video game productions. The choir has received praise for it's performances on the soundtrack for the movie Millions, by world-known director Danny Boyle. The Northwest Boychoir was also featured prominently on the soundtrack for SeaWorld Florida's spectacular new show, Blue Horizons. Another major accomplishment of last year was being selected by renowned Sound Designer Nick Phoenix to be recorded for his Quantum Leap Symphonic Choirs sample library. As a result of this vast recording project, film composers and sound designers now use our voices worldwide. In it's 34 years, the Northwest Choirs has trained thousands of young singers and more significantly, shaped the lives of our youth by providing important life lessons in personal commitment and the value of teamwork and diligence. Our members represent 115 diverse public and private schools in King County. Joseph Crnko, now in his 22nd year as music director, leads a staff of professional educators and musicians in implementing a rigorous curriculum of music theory, voice production, sight-singing and performance skills as well as development of professional standards and artistic excellence. Vocalpoint! Seattle is an ensemble of young adults who bring together the best in singing, dancing and acting. With a unique focus on the performance of contemporary music, this group draws the most talented high-school age young men and women from the Puget Sound region. Vocalpoint! Seattle has developed a strong and well-earned reputation for it's music revues, which are built around special themes in rock 'n' roll. Recent sellout shows include, Keep Playing That Rock 'n Roll, Pop Quiz., and Summer of Love. While maintaining a rigorous performance schedule, the ensemble is engaged in an ongoing educational process of equal importance. Regular rehearsals, retreats, and summer camps give each member the opportunity to develop as an individual performer and independent musician. Members receive professional level training as singers, dancers, and actors and are constantly encouraged to move beyond their current performance skills. All of Vocalpoint!'s male members are graduates of the Northwest Boychoir, and these two ensembles often combine for musical collaboration. Young women are brought into Vocalpoint! Seattle through a two-year training program. This program, established in 1994, emphasizes music literacy in the same tradition as the Northwest Boychoir: sight-singing, ear training, rhythm skills and general musicianship. Girls Prep training also includes vocal and performance techniques and fundamental jazz dance. With all the finesse and Polish of professionals, this ensemble regularly turns in performances that bring audiences to their feet. Enthusiasm, energy, dedication and talent - these are the unique attributes of Vocalpoint! Seattle. In recognition of this talent, Vocalpoint! Seattle is considered an important part of Seattle's rich artistic community. Vocalpoint! Seattle has produced four recordings. Sweet Soul Music, released in 1992, exemplifies Vocalpoint!'s repertoire and style. The holiday albums, 'Tis The Season (released in 1999), Our Finest Gifts (released in 1994) and Here We Come A-Caroling (released in 1989), all featuring the Northwest Boychoir and Vocalpoint! Seattle, have each sold over 15,000 copies. Graduate members of Vocalpoint!
