Composer and pianist Maria Leon Petit was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She initiated studies at the age of five, and at eight had her first public performances. In 1996, under the guidance of professor Alexandrov at the Gnesing Russian Academy of Music of Moscow, Ms Leon Petit obtained a Masters of fine arts in piano. As a composer, her works are frequently performed in festivals. As a pianist, she is engaged in an active solo career that has led her to the stages of Venezuela, Russia, England, and France. She currently has a duet with Karibay Narvaez. Young Venezuelan pianist Karibay Narvaez was awarded the Gold Medal unanimously at the Juan Landaeta National Conservatory of Music of Caracas; under the supervision of Professor Maria Leon Petit. She currently lives in Paris. She worked with great Masters such as: Judith Jaimes, Ricardo Castro, George Pludermarcher, Roger Muraro, Jaques Rouvier and Igor Lazko. She is laureate of the IInd Yamaha Piano contest and Brest Piano Competition. She performed concerts in Venezuela, France, Switzerland and England as soloist, chamber music and duets with the pianist Maria Leon Petit.
