You Never Know
Phil Julian is the youngest of four kids, and grew up during the folk craze of the 60's hearing his older siblings and their friends playing the music of The Kingston Trio, The Limelighters, The Chad Mitchell Trio, Tom Paxton, Peter Paul and Mary and the like., while his parents listened to Red Foley,Tennessee Ernie Ford, and Mitch Miller. It would be 6 years later before Phil would take up the guitar, but by then the picking, styles, message and emotion of folk and gospel music had been ingrained into his personal style. After finding a saving relationship with Jesus in high school, Phil began writing his own songs, which led to singing for youth groups, retreats, coffee houses, church services, weekend missions and so forth - The association of Phil Julian, his guitar, and the Christian message had become established, and it gets better each year. Phil will say " I don't write songs - I write them down ." He will most likely defer credit for his inspirations to a higher power, to his faith in Jesus. " When a song comes, it's as if my inner ear has tuned in to that frequency where you can hear the whispering voice of the Spirit, and when that happens, I grab a pen and paper and start writing as fast as I can. It's hard to take sole credit for that " Don't let the kids on the album cover fool you -These are adult songs. Phil's music covers a broad spectrum of styles covering country, folk, contemporary, soft rock, and traditional style hymns. No screaming, no fuzz tones, no jumping off the stage, just a foot tapping rhythm, good down-home acoustical picking, and a message you can take home in your heart. Good listening.
