Glass of American Water
This CD of original songs was 4 years in the making. It was an organic experience as the recordings grew and took on lives on their own. Each song takes you on a road trip of sorts, with voices of our ancestors speaking in your ears at every turn of the ride. You will hear them in Italian, Irish, Polish, Danish, French, Lenape, Russian, Nepalese and Korean. So this CD honors my heritage, as well as the heritages of many of you out there. The music itself is what I would call ghost rock, or medicinal rock. Hopefully when you hear it, you feel better and even experience some healing and healthy dancing. I was hesitant about releasing some of the songs on this CD, but freedom of speech is important. As a minister I am finding that the vastness of spirituality and God includes things that are not always compatible with the Disney-esque worldview that we often try to squeeze our reality into. There is a rawness that is part of our souls and this music expresses that. I don't think shamans in Siberia are squeaky-clean & use hair conditioner every day. They allow themselves to be real. This is real rock & roll and there's a place for it in our lives. It is unmistakably spiritual. As Neil Young said, 'There's more to the picture than meets the eye.' As Ozzy said, 'Rock & roll is my religion and my law.' Now take a swig of some strong American Water.
