Love the Sinner
I grew up in Rochester, NY, where there can be six months between the first snowfall and the last. It was not until later, after I had spent time living in the less frigid climates of Tulsa, OK and New York City, that I realized how the snow, the rain, the nearly perpetual lack of daylight had shaped my life. This effect was becoming more evident in my music. People who grow up in Western New York tend to be straight forward/direct in conversation, maybe it's because of the cold. This is how i approach song writing: writing direct songs that cut through. There is a feeling of six months of winter Buried deep in my songs. The point of my recent work is to try and be direct even when the confusion of my city/life/world seeps in. It's difficult to find that place, but that is the intention.
