When You Get to Boston
Here's the thing. I dig the process of creating songs, playing wherever ears invite and simply entering into the conversation with folks about how faith and life intertwine. I'm not really interested in wrapping some type of categorized skin tightly around songs, but want them to have the freedom to breathe. I happen to be a clumsy follower of Jesus and that means that all of life is seen through those lenses and so what takes shape in the lyrics and sound waves are influenced by that. So anyways, I've just finished recording 12 new songs that have surfaced over the last couple of years and you can find them on my second project, When You Get to Boston. It' was just released in November 2008. It's got a little different vibe than my first release Carried Along. Unlike my first release, which was recorded with studio musicians, When You Get to Boston is recorded with my live band, Zac Hammons, Scott Squibb & Jeff Waddell. What you're going to hear on the new CD is songs that are true to the raw and organic sound that playing them out live has created. I'm stoked about these new songs and hope that they'll resonate on a core level with folks. I want to be honest and authentic in writing about all of life, so if you nose around in the songs, on the surface and underneath, you'll find they're about everything; pride, hope, compassion, relationships, hate, the forgotten, poverty, grace, justice, smiling, society, the church, enemies, forgiveness, brokenness, reconciliation and the way of a love that's reckless and ridiculous. So, there you go. Thanks for listening to the songs and hope you'll jump into the conversation.
