So It's Come to This
Playing a furiously fast and fun brand of punk rock, Bridgewater, Massachusetts band Random Kate has earned the respect of fans and fellow musicians alike on the basis of fierce independence and resistance to all things homogenized. For five years, they have delivered their high-energy live show anywhere, anytime-from rock clubs to underground shows in basements-developing what can only be described as a rabid fan base throughout Massachusetts. Random Kate may be punk rock, but they take pride in their songwriting and technical proficiency. Drummer Ben Racicot delivers a thunderous onslaught that seems impossibly fast and precise, bassist Josh Gonzales has a pummeling attack too fat to be true, guitarist/vocalist Phil Scott is razor sharp, and Gabe Racicot always rocks the mic with a sense of humor. The result is tight, physically engaging, and impossible to sit still to. As the name would suggest, their debut album, So It\'s Come To This, is a culmination of their first five years together. It follows a band that formed as teenagers (songs about parents, school, and girls) to the men they are today (songs against senseless violence, greed, corruption, and women). Forget that! The music may grow up, but these guys never will.
