Take Time Out
Asheber Posse marks the makings of a new sound in Reggae Music. The group took root in Woodstock as it showed a fresh amalgam of tunes and players, which brought together local musicians of various backgrounds to form this fresh new sound. The music, the majority of which is composed and written by Jamaican born group leader, Ras T, has it's roots in the traditional, cultural Rastafarian rhythms and hardcore 'rockers,' yet includes various crossover sounds ranging from R & B, Funk, Rock, and Hip Hop - a mature fusion which reflects Asheber's well-listened ear. Asheber Posse also includes other talented musicians from Woodstock and around the Hudson Valley. The players are all well-traveled stalwarts and familiar axes on the New York and international music scenes. They include Bad Brains' Darryl Jenifer on bass, Tani Tabaal on drums, Zach Alford of the B-52s on drums, Ted Orr on guitar, David Oliver on keyboards, and Tyrone Downie of The Wailers on keyboards. Ras T Asheber and his crew have appeared on the same bill with class international acts such as The Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, P Funk, Dr. John, Third World, NRBQ, Steel Pulse, Sister Carol, and Spin Doctors. They have played the hottest nightclubs in and around the Capital District and Hudson Valley including The Chance, UPAC, The Joyous Lake, Bearsville Theatre, Northern Lights, and major outdoor fetes such as Riverfest, and the Clearwater and Kingston Maritime Festivals, and NYC. Visually and musically this band is really a treat - they really groove together and so do all that experience them.
