Long Island garage rock n roll super group The Repercussions have just released their debut LP, 'Modern Sounds'. It is the follow up to 2004's 'Don't Fear' EP. Both are available through Kings Park, NY-based indie label ESCHE Records. 'Yes, folks, meet The Repercussions and their Modern Sounds, for they truly are the future of rock n roll.' So says music journalist Chuck Foster in the liner notes of 'Modern Sounds'. It offers up 14 tracks of sonic splendor, ranging from the Johnny Thunders-esque opener 'Everything is Gonna be Alright', to the Booker T inspired 'It's in the Bag', to the Joe Strummer-style country-folk on 'Bridges Aren't the Only Things that are Burnt.' The band recorded the basic instrumental tracks for 16 songs, 14 of which appear on the LP, in one weekend in November of 2004: 16 songs over the span of 20 hours. The next few weeks were spent on overdubs, vocals, and backing vocals and the album was fully recorded by early December 2004. The album was produced and recorded by 'General' George Fullan at General Studios on Long Island, NY. George is in the Long Island-based band Three Years Older and works as a professional recording engineer. His past work has included Cheap Trick, Keith Richards, and Levon Helm. The final audio was mastered by Alan Douches of West West Side Music in Tenafly, New Jersey. His studio's past credits include Pete Townsend, The Misfits, and The Buzzcocks. Artwork was done by an old friend of the band, Angelo Blanda. Angelo works as a professional graphics designer and his past work has included album and promotional artwork for Long Island bands The Microwave Orphans, 48 in the Basement, and Freaks from the Apocalypse. The Repercussions were born in the summer of 2002 when friends and former-band mates Matthew Scott (vocals) and Dave Harrison (guitar) spoke about forming a new band that represented their musical influences while simultaneously creating a sound of their own. After recruiting friends and one-time band mates, namely local legend Matt Dallow (guitar), seasoned skin slapper Nick Berlingieri (drums), and the mighty Sean 'Don't F*ck with Me' Corkery (bass), the lineup was set. The members credit their growing popularity to their boundless energy, their ability to move an audience with both musical and showman-like qualities, and a style steeped in the tradition of rock n roll's greatest performers. Although many have called them a 'garage rock band', they have a wide variety of influences. The band most obviously draws from 60's British Invasion, as well as 50's R&B, Motown and Stax soul, and 70's punk rock and power pop. Since their inception, The Repercussions have thoroughly rocked people all over the world with their high energy brand of tough-as-nails rock n roll. They have received overwhelmingly warm welcomes from audiences on their home turf of Long Island, as well as in New York City, New England, upstate New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Tennessee. In addition to 'Modern Sounds', ESCHE Records also released the hilariously tongue-in-cheek titled EP, 'Don't Fear...The Repercussions' as well as the 'Heather in Pleather' single in February of 2004. These recordings earned them a spot in the national Little Steven's Underground Garage Battle of the Bands, beating out nearly 3,000 other applicants. Their recordings as well as their live shows have received outstanding reviews from press across the nation. Live performances, interviews, live tracks, and cuts from both 'Modern Sounds' and 'Don't Fear' have been heard on both FM and Internet radio.
