Coop de Ville
Richard Cooper began playing piano at the age of 3, much to his parent's surprize, and was playing classical music by the age of ten. A Stanford University Music Dept. Prodigy, his teenage years were wasted on Jazz, blues, and common Rock and Roll. He has played with many notable artists in his time, and is a full time performing artist at the piano. With years of songwriting behind him, he put together a selection of some favorites, and called the compilation COOP DE VILLE. The album was recorded at DAP in Fairfield, California. Using some of the best musicians available in the San Francisco Bay Area, the total production time on this project was just short of one year. The artists on the album are known for working with Boz Scaggs, Stevie Wonder, Pride and Joy, Santana, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Leon Russell, and The Original Muscle Shoals Swampers. Richards piano style is based in Blues and Jazz, with a Rock and Roll edge to it. His vocals are smoothly rocking and soulful. His lyrics are evocative of dance halls, love, date rape, and love gone bad. All compositions on COOP DE VILLE are written, arranged and co produced by Richard. The players and production people are as follows: Andre Champoux, Producer and Engineer, vocals Dave Goodman, Guitar Wayne Perkins, Guitar Mike Burton, Bass Ian Hoffman, Drums Raul Rekow, Percussion Joel Edwards, Saxophone Lynne Colvig, Vocals Taylor Brooks, Vocals Chris Holmes, Vocals George Horn, Mastering (Done at Fantasy Records, Berkley California) And, of course, Richard Cooper, Keyboards and Lead Vocals. Hope you like the album, folks. It was a gas making it and I hope to share it with as many people as possible.
