Born and raised in Chicago with her two siblings, Rivka's passion for singing and music started at an early age. When her parents divorced at the tender age of 11, Rivka found comfort, solace and a place to escape in music. Divorced herself at age 25 and with two children, she began her formal vocal training with Ed Farran who was a key member of the 60's pop vocal quartet the Arbors. After the passing of Ed Farran, Rivka turned to John Komasa, one of the top vocal coaches in Chicago, with whom she continues her training. Rivka has performed for Chicago Singer Spotlight, Northshore Singer Spotlight, The Local Vocal Brew, The Vocal Venue, and Chick Singers Night in Chicago and Milwaukee. She has performed at numerous Chicago-area venues including the Beat Kitchen, Fitzgerald's, Pop's Highwood, Subterranean, Cabaret Grill and Bar, and the Lyons Den. In 2006, two years after remarrying, Rivka embarked on the production of her first original album. Working with songwriter Richard Hamersma and singer/songwriter Kenny Hechtman, her dream of completing an original album with a collection of songs that reflects her life experiences has become a reality with Why Not. In between basketball, soccer and baseball games and her many responsibilities as a mother to five boys, Rivka has enjoyed both the journeys of life and the making of her first album.
