At the End of the Day
Wind Synthesis mates a wind-driven controller (Yamaha WX5), to a synthesizer designed to receive breath information (Yamaha VL70-m). With this pairing, changing air pressure can be assigned any desired dynamic(s); volume, intensity, color, growl, etc., to any voice. I can play like a tenor saxophonist or I can sound like a cello. I have a voice called Jimi Hendrix, and a 7-octave screamer called Sumo. I can drum with my tongue and sound the digeridoo. Circular breathing allows me to make continuous sound.. Wind synthesis begets an amazing array of new instrument possibilities, new sound variables, which open ever more possibilities for music to happen.
