Article in SHOWBIZ Magazine. LAS VEGAS 1986 LAS VEGAS - Skye Whatley, one of the Dean Martin Golddiggers," has just released her first album, "Dreamland"-Sweet Dreams, a collection of original positive and uplifting lullabies inspired by her son. Skye, residing in Los Angeles, Ca..since l976 has spent the last nine years touring the world singing as one of the "Golddiggers." She has worked with the best: Bob Hope, George Burns, Wayne Newton, Frank Sinatra, Milton Berle, Dean Martin, and many more in every major hotel from Monte Carlo to Acapulco and over 50 times at the MGM hotel in Las Vegas entertaining over 1,000,000 people. You may have seen her on the "Mike Douglas", "Dom DeLuise and "Dean Martin" TV Shows. Forming the company, "Skyes' Lullabies" in the year of l985, she wrote, sang, and produced the beautiful soothing lullaby album, "DREAMLAND, Sweet Dreams, " (lullabies to soothe the soul) After looking around the market place for new positive uplifting lullabies and finding a meager selection, Skye decided to write and share her original songs written for her son and inspiration, Shanen. The songs are positive and inspiring to the child, orchestrated with many calming natural sounds like birds, rain, crickets, rocking chair creaks and beautiful voices in harmony. "Sweet Dreams is designed to be a helpmate to the parents, a timeless gift that grows with the child and a perfect shower gift to sooth the parents as well as the babies. Hi Everyone, I'm Robyn. The years have treated me well and now I am re-releasing my album and dedicating it to my granddaughter Cayla. Yes, my son Shanen who was 5 when I wrote, sang, and produced the first album, is now a father himself. My life and music has led me to amazingly wonderful places. I was honored to be chosen amongst 1000 singer hopefuls answering an ad in Variety Magazine (the Bible of Showbiz) to be in the opening act, the GOLDDIGGERS, for the legendary DEAN MARTIN. I was chosen to be in the glamorous talented group to work beside, tour the world, sing, and dance on many TV specials. What an education! Everything was down to the nanosecond. Our conductor was Charlie Sanford, who happened to be the famous bandleader of Sid Caesar's "Show of Shows (first variety LIVE TV show.) For a decade and a half there were opportunities galore to work side by side with the "WHO'S WHO" in the entertainment industry: FRANK SINATRA, BOB HOPE, ROBERT GOULET, JOAN RIVERS, WAYNE NEWTON, JOHN DAVIDSON, JERRY REED, LOU RAWLS, and of course DEAN MARTIN. +++Once, on a 6 week tour of all the "original" Vaudeville theatres, we performed with these mega stars: INK SPOTS, GEORGIE JESSEL, MILTON BERLE, DONALD O'CONNOR, GEORGE BURNS ++++ I think I heard every joke ever told on that tour. Since retiring from the group my husband and family have lived in gorgeous Kauai for 6 years where I soaked up the beautiful harmonies of the natural melodic Hawaiian voices and then moved to the Caribbean for 8 years with the rhythmic sounds that personifies the sun and beaches. I was almost finished with 5 years of studio work when ole Hurricane Ivan, a category 5 hurricane decided otherwise and we lost our entire home and all..... Music is an international language and also the love for children... I think you, no matter where you are from, will understand and enjoy this offering and it will impact you with peace. DREAMLAND...lullabies to sooth the soul, the album with a positive reminder that we all can use... We're ok. Presently my husband and I live on a rugged, historic Greek island where the gypsy -Turkish/Greek sounds of the violin waft over the hillsides at night to soak into ones soul..... Music is a stress releaser, an international peace keeper, a language of the cosmos (world)---a Greek word by the way. My father father used to sing me to sleep every night and my early years found me sur rounded with my aunts and uncles all playing instruments and singing in harmony on the front porch down in Lousiana. My dad was a wonderful songwriter/guitarist from Louisiana and wrote the hit country song "SAWMILL" sung and made famous by MEL TILLIS. When he was dying at home, the incredible care of the Hospice people prompted me to pledge to myself to help in any way I could. To this date $80,000 for Hospice Care has been raised with my one woman concerts, Touch of Showbiz, that my husband and I produced. A percentage of this CD will be donated as well.. I majored in music education at the University of Miami before going into the entertainment world in L.A. California is where I wrote these songs for my son. However, when other mothers taking the 1st Jane Fonda baby massage class with me heard them, they all wanted one and the rest was history. One thing led to another and ......Voila.... A CD for us all to enjoy. The lullabies are beautifully entwined with the background sounds of an old creaking rocking chair ( a reminder of the full moon Louisiana porch nights at my grandfathers), crickets, streams.... All the things that nature offers to sooth our souls. .. It's a fantastic gift for a Mothers' Day, Baby shower, birthday for anyone 1-92...Perhaps you don't or can't sing to your child before bedtime, perhaps you're in a hurry... Let "DREAMLAND, lullabies to sooth the soul", be there for you as a help mate .... I've had booths at Holistic Health Expo's and to see the children in strollers, some crying, having the earphones placed on them to sample the CD and then to be smiling as they hear the music is a sight to behold... Chanel 11 news put one such instance on "news at ll". A crying baby rolled up to the booth and was filmed as the tears miraculously stopped the second the earphones were put on and she listened to the voices in harmony singing "Look to a Mother's Eyes" I have received many fan letter from happy listeners, saying they enjoyed listening to the album for themselves as well as for the babies/child's benefit, and/or had played it so often they needed to re-order more. I've even had a multitude of requests for another lullaby album "just" for adults. DREAMLAND...lullabies to sooth the soul is a great gift for "the child within us all" ....
