Product Notes

Ron Hester is a singer-songwriter in Brooklyn, NY with Tennessee roots and Ohio history. His songs tap experiences from urban and rural landscapes that recall loss, hope, and resignation. To make IN BETWEEN, Ron went back to Ohio to work with friends and former bandmates. Songs were polished and put to tape at Workbook Studio in Columbus. The resulting tracks layer bright acoustic and vintage electric guitars with a smooth, direct voice. ...Hester sounds vocally like he spent time in the Lou Reed school of crooning, but he is a good songwriter with a nice collection of acoustic-based rock tunes, most notably the powerful 'STUPID STORIES.' - Andrew Aber, The Village Voice ...at the intersection of indie-rock and alt-country, is Ron Hester, a talented performer... - Curtis Fields, The Washington Post ...It's just that in an era overly concerned with outhipping the hip, it's sometimes pleasant to see or hear a simple idea executed well. Ron Hester's music is simple and effective, and he makes no attempt to make apologies or excuses for it. There's no need to: IN BETWEEN won't leave you feeling conflicted... just satisfied. - Jenn Sikes, Splendid E-zine (splendidezine.com)
