Following in the footsteps of the acclaimed jazz-fusion band Uncle Festive, Ron Pedley has released his own instrumental project. The addition of the sax work of Andy Suzuki lends this work a commercial appeal. Fans of earlier Uncle work will still find lots of fun and inventiveness on this CD. Everyone on the project lends a hand in the composing. Making this outing a varied yet cohesive listening experience. With it's refreshing blend of the familiar and the innovative, the straightforward and the experimental, Ron Pedley's 'Around' is an album that should find eager listeners among fans of all genres. 'Pedley is a an especially distinctive player and writer, whose lines-on paper and on keyboard-are both clean-burning and slightly twisted.' Down Beat 'Ron Pedley's chords and synth colorings indicate a Weather Report aesthetic, though his piano comps are more rhythmic and solid and his solos are punchier, less fluid and abstract, then those of Zawinul.' Keyboard 'Pedley never stopped surprising listeners. Playing electronic synthesizers, he issued a continually shifting panorama of tones, sounding like everything from an acoustic piano and a Fender Rhodes to an electronic version of a jazz orchestra. And his solos were first rate, each played craftily and building to numerous climaxes, telling musical stories'. Zan Stewart-LA Times Ron Pedley has toured and recorded with such artists as Maynard Ferguson, Air Supply, Michael Crawford, Kirk Whalum and Ann-Margret. He is currently working with Barry Manilow in Las Vegas. Ron's original compositions can be heard on 7 Uncle Festive C.D.'s on various labels. He received national airplay and has had songs in the Top Ten of the Radio & Records smooth jazz chart. His most current project 'Kombo' has 2 CD's released on GRP records.
