Gospel Arrangements Inspired By Chet
The psalmist, King David proclaimed that men ought to 'praise Him with stringed instruments.' That seemed only natural to Ron Vanover when he first heard the gospel presented as a teenager and became a Christian believer. He was already playing clubs, but decided following his encounter with the LORD that he would begin using his talent as an instrument of praise. As a result of that decision, Ron has played with numerous Christian artists in concert and on recordings. Like countless others, Ron was heavily influenced by the guitar artistry of Chet Atkins. 'Chet's fingerstyle approach to playing expanded the world's concept of how the guitar could be played, and as a result, hundreds of thousands were inspired to begin playing guitar,' Ron says. 'Those who became serious students of the instrument began a lifelong journey that never quite ends.' Chet recorded over 100 record albums and CDs. While there are a few familiar sacred songs within his body of work, sadly, he recorded one pure gospel album. 'Recently, I decided to record a number of familiar hymns and gospel songs the way I thought Chet might have played them,' reports Ron. 'Whether you're a guitar player or simply love the instrument, I know you'll enjoy hearing these great songs with arrangements inspired by Chet.'
