Michael Gilbert Ronstadt has been offering his music to audiences on cello, guitar, and voice for fifteen years and is conversant in a wide range of musical styles. He has performed throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada for concerts with artists like David Bromberg, Linda Ronstadt, Murial Anderson, Lisa Biales, The Santa Cruz River Band, Liz Malys, Amber Norgaard, Seedy Seeds, Psychedelphia, Eva Young and Matt Santry. On top of collaborating and performing solo, Michael currently tours internationally with his group Lost In Holland on Vapor Records, presenting their unique acoustic blend of folk and rock to excited audiences everywhere they go. Side projects include the Gypsum Ensemble, Suono Duo, and collaborations with fellow songwriter and brother Petie Ronstadt. In the past, Michael performed in TG Express, the Impromptu String Duo, Four Corners String Quartet, Ippolito String Quartet, Siddhartha Piano Quartet, Alborada, Mike Ronstadt Trio, Young Frankensteins, and Nothing Yet. In 2006, Michael held first chair in the University of Arizona's Arizona Symphony Orchestra, and later sat second chair in the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music graduate level Philharmonia Orchestra. Throughout the United States, Michael's cello playing can be found on Lost In Holland's The Last Great Loss (2009), his own Cotton Dreams Part I & II (2008), Motionless Swirls (2006) and records by Amber Norgaard, Dean Maier, Jude Nicholson, Bobby Ronstadt, The Santa Cruz River Band, Liz Malys, Petie Ronstadt, The Seedy Seeds, Merrill Leffman and Loligo. Michael Ronstadt received his Master of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in June 2008, and his Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Arizona in May 2006. Michael has studied with internationally acclaimed cellists Yehuda Hanani, Nancy Green, Dr. Gordon Epperson, William Grubb, and Nelzimar Neves. He has received chamber coaching from Awadagin Pratt, Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff, and James Tocco, Lee Fiser, Yehuda Hanani, Nancy Green, Laurie Carney of the American String Quartet, the Miró String Quartet and Cypress String Quartet. He has also participated in master classes with the cellist/musicologist Jonathan Kramer, La Mela Di Newton, and pianists Rita Sloan and Paula Fan. Michael Ronstadt enjoys performing new cello works, including the premier of "Idego" by Liz Malys in May 2006. Michael released Cotton Dreams Part II (2008) that included recording premiers of "Idego" and Ken Stewart's "Fallen Soldier." In May 2007, he gave the Ohio premier of Liz Malys' Sonata for Cello and Piano. April and May of 2007, the Ippolito String Quartet gave the first performances of Carlos Velez's "Untitled" String Quartet, Joshua B. Parman's "Harmonice Mundi" for String Quartet, and Michael Ippolito's Piano Quintet. In April 2007, Michael also performed 1st cello on "Shadow Bells" by Carlos Velez, for Cello Quartet. The Siddhartha Piano Quartet gave the first performance of Darijus Spakauskas' piece "Music" for Harpsichord, Violin, Viola, and Cello in May 2007.
