Back to Where We Started
..............MEMORIES OF SMOKE FILLED JUKE JOINTS.......... We've both been in a lot of bands over the years, but we've been a duo now for our last 3 CDs together. For this one we decided to make a musical history of our road warrior days on the bar and small club circuit. We think it tells our story pretty well, with the good, the bad and the ugly. To sum us up a friend of ours wrote these liner notes, 'In a nutshell, Rumsey and Barnes' musical genesis goes something like this--In the beginning God said let there be music. And there was Elvis. Then there was Eddie Cochran, the Statler Brothers, the Stones, Petty, the 90s, Garth, the Millenium and somewhere in there Rumsey and Barnes. So pour yourself a tall cold one and crank this sucker up. I think you'll dig it.' Well, we do, too. And we couldn't have said it any better. Of course, that won't stop us from trying. So to quote one of our own songs-- 'This here is a last chance warning The creek is risin' don't hang around That there is a bad news omen Get your butt to that higher ground' Yeah, move your feet--you're head will follow. If you hear footsteps, that's just the past catching up to you. Final thought--Imagine if Dire Straits went country and hooked up with Big and Rich. Bingo! RUMSEY AND BARNES. Think about it. But not too long. Better just to listen. ,.
