Runaway Freight : Hillbilly Bailout-The Recession Tapes
MattFord and Chris Smith were both looking to start a band and began attending a local jam on Tuesday nights. Justin Ford, Matt's younger brother, also attended. They met a character by the name of Samuel Louis Morgan at the jam and began to play a regular bi-monthly show at Allen's market in Lebanon Tennessee. After a few months,in December of 2003, they decided to officailly start a band. Carrie Haycraft was also on board. They recorded a CD in Febuary and March of 2004. They sold the CD at live shows and began to get bookings. In 2005 Carrie decided to leave the group. Matt, Chris, Justin and Lou went back into the studio and recorded another CD,'Traveling on', and released it to internet radio. They got positive feedback from djs worldwide. In August 2006 they declared professional status. In 2007 they recorded an all gospel CD,'Welcome Aboard', at Tom T. Hall's studio in Franklin TN. The CD was released in December of 2007, followed by a primecuts of bluegrass release of the title song in March of 2008. 'Welcome Aboard' recieved great reviews from bluegrass media outlets and radio disc jockeys alike. In November of 2008 the guys recorded their fourth CD,'Hillbilly Bailout-The recession tapes' at C&C recording studio n Eagleville TN.
