Buried Face Down
Sad Eyed Angel: Sad Eyed Angel is an independent band for the most part. Aside from working with various Management Firms and Booking Agents/Promoters, the band produces their own music and runs their own PR and therefore remains a more 'Indie' act. In the genre of Heavy Rock and Heavy Metal most indie bands remain mediocre, but pushing their way from the Midwest underground into the attention of a global audience comes Chicagoland area band Sad Eyed Angel who is fast finding a stronger support base. With their soulfull American Hard-Rock-Borderline-Metal sound, coupled with talent and education, Sad Eyed Angel promises to remain a strong presence in the music industry for a long time. Formed in the Chicago suburbs around 1999, the band has toured the Midwest and achieved a moderate degree of success while overcoming the hardships of the buisness. With help from media like local television and radio along with international marketing groups landing the band's music in compilations, to promoters finding the band spots opening on national tours, Sad Eyed Angel has stayed strong and expanded their fan base into dense pockets of scattered global areas being that the band has found themselves well recieved among domestic markets as well as foreign ones too. After playing on tours the band has booked themselves and selling out local venues, Sad Eyed Angel has pushed their growing momentum with the 2005 release of the band's breakthrough album 'Buried Face Down' - the band's first full-length effort, establishing them as a commercial product in the markets of the music industry. When the band's warehousing company Hit Media Inc. paired with Super-D Onestop Distributors, Sad Eyed Angel's album became available as special order product in record stores all over North America. This also pushed the band into an ever-expanding global market via internet sales such as PayPlay and Apple I-Tunes, and also through mobile phone downloads. A tour season later found the band landing their promotional DVDs in regional venues such as record stores, bars, and other places that cater to live music to better reach audiences and spread a buzz surrounding the band. Being an independent band has had it's advantages and disadvantages for Sad Eyed Angel. While working under their own direction as an indie band, Sad Eyed Angel has found it alot harder to tour and advertise without the finacial support that comes from working with a reputable major label or well-established indie one, expecially within an ever fluctuating economy. But making fans and friends of club owners and especially other bands as well, has helped all parties benefit together as a functioning gear in the machine of the music industry, bringing music to the ears of the people that help support it in turn. One listen to Sad Eyed Angel's music however, any listener can see that the band's talent and education reflected in the songs which have the power to hook you as soon as the first track opens. Among the band's members: leading the way is rhythm guitarist and lead vocals Ryan Albin fronting the band with his unique guitar tone and monstrous voice. Lead guitarist Nate Kinney isn't far behind with his back-up vocals and Rock'n Roll style guitar solos. The band's backbone is comprised of bass guitarist Robby Maree who's powerful low end coupled with drummer Danny Lee's powerhouse drumming add a seriously heavy element to the mix, giving the music it's unique attitude that has the staying power to easily infiltrate the songs into the listener's psyche through theory, groove and emotion. Now back into the music scene armed with a stage show and an album available in stores in every state, Sad Eyed Angel finds it's legion of fans growing. With the help of their street team members that hand out DVDs and advertising materials, Sad Eyed Angel is fast finding an ever-expanding demographic. People of all ages that have an ear for Rock'n Roll and/or a taste towards anything heavy can not leave along Sad Eyed Angel's songs which have earned the name ground-breaking and inspiring, 'American Metal with Soul.' Every song on the album represents a wealth of alternative metal music styles. The fascination with this new breed of modern rock musicians is their instinctive ability to connect many genres of music, thereby shaping and molding it into something all of their own making. ... Sad Eyed Angel displays professionalism, enthusiasm, charisma and pure talent.... One of our favorite acts. .. They have the dynamics in their songs and the talent to make it big in the music industry.' - Talent 2000 ...'Great work guys! Very original sounding material! ... excellent guitar riffs and strong emotion-filled backing vocals... very well written musically as well as lyrically... easily and very marketable!' -T. Buburuz, International Marketing Group 'Superb bombastic killer metal comes from the state of Illinois in Sad Eyed Angel. These four guys add speed filled riffs to compliment furious vocals and kick drums... a heavy metal mosh recipe one can't resist... their songs grab you by the throat from the first few notes and add a nice change of pace from riff to chorus back to riff madness... rolls along with thrash like speed and violent vocal screams... overall, this is worth all the spare time you may have. So if you really want to wreak your neck from head banging or fracture your bones in a mosh pit, then this platter is for you... a 9/10!' - 'Metal Mike' from Hard beyond Driven.com 'Goddamn, this is heavy f***'n metal! ... In the way of genre description it's metal with a thrashing delivery... after my fourth time through the disc I began to fear my home's foundation would turn to concrete dust. You can not go wrong with the flesh-ripping riffs, piercing solos, and powerhouse drumming on (the songs) ... I loved every destructive minute of it. Pick up this killer disc from these Illinois metal monsters.' - Patrick Dumas, 'The Darkest Hours' Multimedia Broadcast.
