Traditions of Christmas
The Saint Dominic Chapel Girls' Choir, now in it's fifth year, consists of young ladies of our parish ranging in age from nine to eighteen who are trained and directed by the Dominican Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Ever mindful that 'to sing is to pray', the girls endeavor to put their whole heart and soul into their song, for the sole intention of praising and glorifying God in the sacred Liturgy of the Catholic Church. Their devoted love of the sacred music and enthusiam for it's precise performance have enabled these girls to develop a repertoire of music, from Gregorian chant to polyphonic motets. This is truly a unique choir with a unique sound. The angelic purity of the girls' voices combined with the simplicity of the arrangements lifts one's heart and mind and fills the soul with joy and peace. Devoid of any pretense or overproduced electronic enhancements, the harmonious blend of these innocent voices brings the sacred music of the Christmas season to life right before your ears. When you let yourself get lost in the meditative strains of these classic Christmas carols and hymns, you'll feel as though you're sitting in the pew at Midnight Mass on a snowy Christmas Eve. Included with the CD is a high-quality booklet with English translations of all the songs and informative, historical backround information on each piece. We hope you will enjoy this recording of some of our favorite Christmastide hymns and carols, and will make it a part of your Christmas traditions.
