By combining a traditional Celtic style with a contemporary pop-rock sound, the Sallymacs have created a high energy Irish-Rock show that has audiences dancing, shouting, and singing along. British singer/songwriter Mark Harriman mixes his pop vocal qualities with a hard-edged Irish pub singing approach. Mark Yoshida adds a traditional Celtic melodic style on electric guitar while bassist Brady Howle, coming from a Bluegrass background, lays down a traditional groove. Drummer Todd Nichoalds, known for his wild animated antics, finalizes the lineup and locks in a solid backbeat. Soon after the release of our second CD 'Drive It Like You Stole It,' we began to discuss ideas for the direction of our third album. As we considered the 'Sallymac' qualities, we realized the thing that everyone from first time listeners to faithful followers always say they enjoy about the Sallymacs is the energy and atmosphere of our live shows. It became obvious that we had to make a live recording. So we set out to capture all the raw, spontaneous, sometimes nearly reckless, and always genuine fun nature of our show by recording at various venues, from acoustic shows at small pubs to all out electric frenzies at larger concert halls. After nearly a year of recording shows and mixing the tracks, Sallymacs 'live' was finished and released in the spring of 2003.
