Product Notes

SM's roots can be traced back to the year 1998,after leaving high school i bought a cheap keyboard after being stimulated by keyboard driven music for years, especially horror soundtrack .It was then that my musical partner of 3 years Nate Wargo and I first had an idea for a band, that had Industrial framework and romantic and cinematic qualities, and it would also consist mainly of electronics. This project went through a variety of names like 'closure' and 'ravena',we made countless demo tapes as a log of our ideas for when we would have the chance and money to record a real album.Nothing really big happened for us until February 1999 when we were invited to join a local death/black metal group called Radegast. The following year and half we played many shows, and gain alot of interest from general audiences and the buisness itself with that in mind went on to record an album which to this day remains incomplete. At the time, things were coming together for us as band, and also as a band we were falling apart for various reasons and we disbanded before completing our album in 2000.Nate and I had returned to our project for the next three years we worked on and off with it,by this time we started using computer softwares and four-tracks to make music, eventually we began working by ourselves due to conflicting work schedules. So we spent about two years trading demos, this was when i first experimented with noise music and learned how to circuit bend.By 2002 Nate move out of town for personal reasons unrelated to our musics,I began to learn the art of computer recording.I continued the project on my own by the name of Rusted Memory during late winter of 2003.As i had become frustrated with the project and my personal life i rejected the project and took what was left and experimented with the tracks out of anger. The music was manipulated with effects, time streching and heavy subharmonic layers (layers of the same track dropped really low)....the result was a song called 'mankind'.I was astonished at what i created and what came out of the recording through shear mind power manipulation!!A few more tracks would follow 'orgnanism','birth machine' and the others.I realized i should make an entirely new project out of this unearthly sound, what i heard during these tracks sounded like an ungodly machine churning deep in the bowels of the earths core.It had literally spoke to me....Satanic Mechanisms was born, the phrase rang out in my head.No sooner did i set up a profile at an online music community known as Acid Planet. The early songs resembled old Japanese Noise/Ambience,by April of 2003 i put together 20 songs, and made a the first CD, SATANIC MECHANISMS.By september i had performed at Jeff the Pigeon in Allentown,PA supporting Chicago noise band Panicsville, around this time I really wanted to tweek SM and saved money to get more professional equipment. Then in 2004 I upgraded my gear and recorded new songs and started playing more ambient music, and perfomed again at Jeff the Pigeon supporting Providence bands Prurient and Kites .This would be the last time SM played live,Nate still remained distant from the music and was going to fill in at JTP in 2003.I continued to work on new tracks and remixes, for a CD called EVIL NOISE VOL.1 which would showcase unreleased tracks and remixes,Nate would work on one final song with me a remix of 'in the begining' better know as ITB protozoa mix. Before the release was ready my girlfriend and myself were starting our own record label which made evil noise our first official release in October 2004.In less than two years time I had made two CD's and owned a record label (Ambient Black Records),during the days of Acid Planet I earned respect from fellow artists...Enter Alan Fisk (Pixels of Death)not only was this kid likeminded and very into the abstract horror soundtrack,we became fans of each others work and exchanged methods of noise making.During Late 2004-Early 2005 we discussed creating a side project that involved the degradation of pop-culture and the fusion of POD and SM styles we Called it NAZI AMERICA.During the first couple of songs I started hanging out with Craig Werkhieser. Now I knew Craig before but this is when i introduced him to SM.With Craig i saw potential and an undying interest in the project,so i decided to see what he could do Craig from what i know hadn't much experience with music. He was a quick learner with how to scuplt noise. We were officially a duo,but there was still unfinished buisness with NAZI AMERICA we completed and released ASSEMBLY OF DEGRATION during the summer of 2005.All the while we were still writting for SM but needed to work on becoming a tighter band and spent some time practicing and thinking about what direction we wanted to take it,for it is SM's philosophy to have no boundries. In the Fall of 2005 we began work on what will be SM's first full length on AMBIENT BLACK,Cell will re-introduce what Nate and i had left behind years ago, incorporating romatic industry with SM's already unique style.CELL is due for release by early 2006 on ambient black records, Satanic Mechanisms will continue exists, love it,or hate it or have yet to hear it.SM will never Die...it will follow me to my grave.... Mike Bunting.
