A classified ad seeking musicians that listen to Guided by Voices, Pavement, and The Smiths gave birth to the distinctive raucous guitar-based band, Satellite 7. With roots spanning the eastern seaboard, the members of Satellite 7 - Roy Bono (guitar/vocals), Brian Binkowski (drums), Kevin McMahon (guitar/vocals) and Erik Nelson (bass/vocals) - share a like-minded musical vision despite their disparate backgrounds; to create heartfelt unrelenting rock. Stirred by the recent emergence of countless New York bands, Satellite 7 is poised to establish their home city of choice, Boston, as the East Coast Mecca for rock music. 'The difference between us and these New York bands is honesty. I don't go see bad bands to decide what clothes are cool and what music is trendy,' says McMahon. 'I put on jeans because they fit and I listen to the Cars.' That honesty is captured on their new self-titled EP, released in July 2004. The EP was engineered by Adam Rourke, best known for his work with Damone (RCA Records). Tracks like 'Halo' and 'Paradigm' best define the Satellite 7 sound. Bono unloads vocally while two guitars weave subtle lead lines together, harmonies mark the chorus, and the rhythm section drive the sound. Satellite 7 will be playing clubs throughout New England and New York for the duration of 2004.
