Saunter was poised to become one of North Carolina's longest running, most completely obscure original bands. Saunter has embraced this philosophy, but it's about to change with the upcoming release of Excuses. The person most responsible for the continued obscurity is founder Matthew Davis, lead singer, guitar, and primary composer. His vocal melodies give Saunter it's hook. The player behind the horn is Brian Buzby. His mild demeanor has won over many a fan, and his touch on the brass is sublimely rock and roll. Behind the drum kit is John Crusoe whose straight-up beats provide the drive behind the melody. Bass = Chad Bennett = Fun. You'll hear a perky bounce to his bass lines, reminiscent of John Paul Jones. Paul Sanders plays the Hammond organ and keys, which provide the glue to Saunter's unique sound. He ties it all together and makes the music whole. Saunter is extremely excited about the upcoming release of Excuses, which will define them as one of Raleigh, NC's most talented ensembles.
