Scott was influenced early on by singer songwriters like Harry Chapin, Jim Croce, Don McLean, and Cat Stevens. His intelligent well crafted lyrics paint a picture for every story he tells. Scott has always shied away from top 40 tunes and instead has concentrated on telling stories that people can relate to. His songs are about real people and real life. In his debut CD release \'An American Portrait\' every track was written from Scott\'s real life experiences and his sincerity and honesty shines through in every song. \'Much of my life has been one self inflicted train wreck after another and it wasn\'t until the death of my kid brother and the tireless love of my wife Jenny and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that I was finally able to rise above my transgressions and truly become a new man.\' \'Now days, almost every song I write is intended to glorify The Lord. If in the end only one person has been led to Jesus through my songs then it all will have been worthwhile.\'
