Shakin' Out the Lizards
Shakespeare for a Thousand is made up of just one person, Darrell Kolb of West Columbia, South Carolina. On this album, his debut album, Shakin' Out the Lizards, he plays all instruments as well as doing all vocals. The original purpose of this album was to get other artist to hear and record his music. There are thousand of independent artist that feel the same way but established recording artist only want to deal with songwriters already in the loop. If record company producers would listen to independent artist they would find a treasure of good music to use . Shakespeare for a Thousand is not a performing band. Shakespeare for a Thousand does not do 3 minute radio songs. Shakespeare for a Thousand does not like to be labeled as playing a certain kind of music. Shakespeare for a Thousand likes to write songs from start to finish. No editing to fit a certain time frame. "I once heard a comedian talking of things you would never hear a person from the south say, and one of those things was "Alex, I would like Shakespeare for a Thousand", so I thought what a great name for a band" said Darrell Kolb of Shakespeare for a Thousand. Darrell Kolb is a 50 year old guitar playing songwriting homestudio recording fool that never bothered to grow up. Oh, don't get him wrong though, he goes to work everyday, doesn't do drugs and pays his bills, but the idea of living his life like so many other 50 year olds just doesn't appeal to him. He is not winding down, he is winding up and ready to let loose.
