Ready for the Sun to Shine
Shane Powell was born in Lexington, NC where he discovered his love of music at the age of seven. He received his first guitar as a Christmas gift before he was able to walk, and started playing right away, to the delight of his family. As he grew up he found his calling as a musician and performer, playing church functions all over the southeast. Later, Shane went on a trip to Charlotte, NC where he won a competition that landed him a trip to Music City. There he participated in and won the Nashville Starseek Competition, sponsored in part by the Grand Ole Opry Legends. Following his trip to Nashville, Shane was introduced to Dr. Grady Lewis, a mentor who not only was a strong believer in Shane's talent, but also helped cultivate his vocal skills. Dr. Lewis also had a popular radio program on 98.1 WBRF, a 100,000 watt Country station in Galax VA. It was there that Shane had his first radio airplay, with a song titled 'The Prayer'. Shane went on to win many awards throughout the Carolinas, Virginia, and Tennessee, and even landed a trip to Las Vegas, where he performed in front of his largest crowd ever. In May of 1998 he finally moved to Nashville at the age of 18, to pursue his musical ambitions. Starting out as a dishwasher at the Nashville Palace, he also performed there several nights a week. In the time that followed, he made many friends, who helped him to further Polish his skills, including original songwriting, while performing in as many places as possible around town. In 2001 Shane was nominated by the Tennessee Songwriters Association International as the Most Promising Male Songwriter of the Year. In 2002 Shane decided to go back to school to get a Real Estate License. And in 2003 he became a Real Estate agent with Crye-Leike Realtors the 4th largest Real Estate Company in the Nation. From 2005 to Present Shane has been one of the top 25 agents in the Middle Tennessee Region. In 2005 Shane decided to cut his second record with RevDisc Records, 'Ready For The Sun To Shine'. There was where he became close friends with Bob McGilpin the executive producer behind the album. Things started looking up for Shane's music career once again. He released 4 songs overseas and in secondary markets in the USA. 'Goodbye Jersey' was 1 on some European Charts and ECMA charts and he followed with 'Back In Your Arms Again' and 'Ready For The Sun To Shine' both being in the top 10 in Europe.
