Far Away & Gone
Shelly is a Clinical Psychologist who has been singing and playing guitar since she was about six. She taught herself how to play and discovered she could sing by accident and has been singing ever since. Her music is inspired by both her work and her personal life. Far Away and Gone was written after a bout with cancer. Hence the short hair and hiking hat on the cover. Shelly is a native of Florida and still feels very connected to her home state and the environmental impact it's growing population has had on it's natural beauty. A visit to her home town brought about the song 'Walking Tree' which is about the dwindling mangroves in the area that are of such importance to the health of the wildlife and waterways of the Florida coast. She has been in Oregon for nearly twenty years is just as attached to this state's natural beauty and resources. This is her second album and she plans to make many more and continue the quest for the 'perfect song' or at least one as good as the late Dave Carter's, 'When I Go' which is pretty close.
