This independently produced recording introduces the instrumental music of Silent K in a special six song EP. Silent K draws on compositional expressions ranging from earthy blues and psychedelic rock to contemporary chamber music and electro-acoustic ambiance. It's a fascinating blend of eclectic influences rooted in an honest, heartfelt approach to rhythm and musical space. The EP opens with the cyclic arpeggio of 'Wave of Perception' floating over a solid beat and slowly loosing itself in the evolving strands of melodic counterpoint. This leads to the driving rhythm of ''Twas Now' with an unusual guitar line that looks forward while staying rooted in the present. The organ slows things down in 'Give Us a Lift' and draws the ear through a calmly chaotic texture toward the guitar's concluding remarks. 'Devil's Kiss' evokes a quiet spaghetti western complete with rattling snakes and bleached bones lying on a dry, windswept landscape. The groove continues as piano and bass kick around town together in 'I Gotta Gig Tonight'. And the disc touches down for a smooth landing with a cool blend of competing keyboard phrases looking for attention in the title track 'No Shortage'. You will want to get up and dance when you experience the sultry keyboards, quirky guitars and solid grooves. Or you may prefer to sit and quietly contemplate the evolving textures and subtle lines of interwoven melody. However you approach this music you won't be disappointed with these original and engaging pieces. There is no shortage of musical energy and invention on this debut offering by Silent K. Thanks for listening!
