Bex, the debut album from Sizelove, is a culmination of the members first year together and accentuates the growth and changing moods of the band through the mild shifting of genres on the album. Sizelove recorded Bex at Mix Tape Sound Lab in their hometown of Lawrence, Kansas. The vision of the album was to achieve a natural sound that wasn't overproduced giving the listener a dynamic feel of the bands live performance. Cork opens the album with a bass heavy intro, which transforms into a minimalist 5/4 feel showcasing the bands comfort with changing moods within a song. Songs like Reah and Douche bag invite you into the pop side of the band musically and a darker more personal side vocally. The song Bex is itself a microcosm of the entire album of the same name by incorporating catchy lyrics, ethereal minimalism, and instrumental breaks. The album is filled out with a seven plus minute epic October Whiskey, a guitar driven new age folk tune Nothing To No One, the experimental Know Vacancy that cannot fit in a single genre, and ends with a synth and vocal dominant Maudlin Attributes.
