Know Your Role
From the hidden depths of the Boston rock scene comes Something Against You. With an uncanny knack for writing the simple, the straight forward, the emotional, the beautiful and of course the melodic songs, that make them who they are. It all comes through on their debut full length CD, 'know your role'. Impeccable song writing, and an appalling grasp on how to make a song explode with emotion and gut wrenching appeals to know yourself and always better who you are. From the opening scream to the final fading guitar this is a full album no filler end to end. It is raw and beautiful, the way bands should start. No Polish, no extras, they could neither afford them nor desired them. They want people to hear the violent explosions of guitar and the raw vocals soaring from quiet verses to screaming choruses. More about who they were than where they are right now, they wanted to record their history as well as their future. Those early years were so important in the development of the band, as writers, as people that to only use newer material would have been an ignorant slap in their own faces. It is fired up, straight forward, inspired and emotional. Influences taken from rock, hard rock, emo, punk, etc. They use it all because in part as Doug sings in 'Circuitous' it's made them who they are. They kept the record as true to the music as they could, because that is all that matters to them.
