Flight of Fancy
Music has been a passion of mine my whole life. After a particularly rough period when my wife became quite ill, I began to compose music in which to hide. It was a wonderful release of the emotions I had hidden from her. As she recovered, my music took a more upbeat turn and listeners began to respond to it...emotionally. After writing 16 albums, I finally decided it was time to produce an album for the public and share it with you all. I hope my music does for you in the listening, what it has done for me in the writing. Many people think that I am a country artist because of the band name. Even though I compose some country music, the 'Country' in my name implies that coming here gives you many listening options. This album contains smooth jazz, soft rock, latin, and country cuts which I hope will please you. My wife and daughter were my first audience. Slowly I included friends and associates, and now, finally, the public. Welcome to my country. I hope you enjoy the visit. The Lady Is My Life - The title is self-explanatory. This is a gentle smooth jazz song with flute carrying the melody. Arpeggio piano and delicate strumming guitar fill the background. This one has a particularly nice guitar solo. Finding Wonderland - This is jazz fusion, not confusion. It is a Latin style jazz in the mold of Jaco, with very active bass and exciting percussion. Drifting Away - The New Age style song floats on gentle strains played on synthesizer, juxtaposed by a strong electronic drum beat. Very dreamy. A jazz trumpet solo enters to give this one texture and a different feel in the middle. Don't You Care - This is a gentle country ballad with a tremolo guitar melody. This one doesn't need words to tell it's story. It has a beautiful country piano solo in the middle. Just Lucky I Guess - Sparkling smooth jazz. The melody is played by the English horn, which is a nice alternative to a soprano sax. A bit more mellow. Tenor sax fills the middle with a good solo. Neat bass line and good percussion make this a fun listening experience. Return to Romance - Romantic and mellow, the background is filled by two sythesizers. The English horn once again carries the melody. Very pretty. My Last Heartache - Pure fun. This bouncy country tune tells two stories; one about a new, happy relationship, and the recollections of the previous unhappy one. Again, the music tells the story without words being necessary. It's A Matter of Understanding - Mellow smooth jazz with a flute and English horn melody. Fretless bass and tight percussion take this where it needs to go. Your Healing Hand - This is a gentle song originally written for an inspirational album which was never released. This one is intended to take one away and replace daily problems with relaxation. Strolling Through the Rain - Just like a walk in a soft rain shower can be refreshing, this song it intended to give the listener a similar feeling...without getting wet! An Ordinary Midnight - Fun, uptempo, and a bit raucous...kind of like a night on the town. Hooked on Life - Part of the same inspirational album as Your Healing Hand, the title tells the story. It is mellow, smooth jazz with nice percussion. Flight of Fancy - Latin and lovely, this flight of fancy is meant to unlock your imagination and allow it to take you to another place. By No Means - Flute melody plays off against piano comping. Slap bass punctuates throughout. An electric piano fills the middle with a solo. Just One Second - High energy Latin-flavored smooth jazz. Trumpets carry this one. Snappy guitar solo keeps it moving through the middle.
