To Be Known
Stacey Stanley began her singing career in the bathtub about as far back as she can remember. Fortunately, she branched out into more public arenas! She spent the majority of her formative years in Apple Valley, Minnesota, where she excelled in band (saxophone), theater, and choir. However, the high school years were not kind to her voice when it was found that she had developed vocal nodules. She had to take a year off of singing to allow her vocal cords to heal, during which time she attended her freshman year at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. After getting the green light to begin singing again, she headed for Berklee College of Music in Boston where along with her emphasis in vocal performance, she earned a bachelors degree in Music Production and Engineering. After graduation, Los Angeles became the next stop where she worked in various studio management positions until she struck out on her own in 1998 and started her own CD duplication/ mastering/ graphic design business called The Notepad. However, music was her first love and her calling, and she continued singing in bands and at church. 'To Be Known' marks the first release of this talented singer/ songwriter. This eclectic collection gives an intimate glimpse into the struggles and triumphs of her journey (i.e. real life). The overriding theme is that of love and relationships...from the plea to extending love to others in Somebody Else and Without Love...to the ending of a relationship in Silence...to the pains of loneliness in To Be Known...to wanting to be there for a friend in need in Just Call...to going to the source of forgiveness and mercy in the Deep Well...to hearing the gentle words of God, our creator, in There I'll Be...to the faith and knowledge that He is with you in your darkest moments in Love Is Chasing Me. With a mixture of styles (from R&B to Folk to Rock to Pop to Gospel), she shows her versatility as a powerful, emotional vocalist, and as a musician on acoustic guitar and piano. Stacey also co-produced this album with Fin Johnston, and was backed by some of the finest musicians in L.A. (all live - no sequencers!). The reviews are in....'inspirational'....'I listened to it 3 times when I first got it - loved it!'....'I listen to it every morning when I'm getting ready for work'...'You rock!'...'I cried.'. To see her perform is to see someone passionate and confident about her music and her role as a storyteller. To say that she has stage presence is an understatement! She continues to touch the hearts of those that see her, literally making grown men cry. She trades off between accompanying herself on guitar and piano, sometimes solo, sometimes with a full band. If you have a chance to catch her show, you will not leave the same person as when you walked in.
