'eXist' is the debut album by State Line Road, formed in late 2006 in Granada, Spain, by guitarist Hans Kohlbacher, keyboard/guitarist Stuart Pennington, singer Paul Martin and bassist/guitarist Ben Long. When drummer Ryan Hansen joined in 2007, the group's sound evolved from mostly folk/acoustic towards rock, and the songs written by Hans, Stuart and Ben were ready for recording. 'eXist' took shape track by track in the band's attic studio over the next two years. Weekend and evening sessions alternated recording for the album with rehearsing for live performances, which the band enjoys too much to set aside, even while creating their debut CD. Now, at last, that CD does 'eXist' -- a totally independent creation from the first electric riffs of 'Powerstation' to the last melancholic strums of 'Northern Girls.' Thirteen songs composed, recorded, mixed, mastered and produced by State Line Road's five musicians (with a little help from their friends!). Each of the tunes is a reflection of the influences brought to the group by it's members, whose hometowns stretch across Europe and America: Liverpool, Manchester, Maasmechelen (Belgium), San Francisco and Kansas City, where a long road dividing Kansas and Missouri lends the group it's name.
