Statefish is an original alternative rock band that was formed in Charlotte, NC in 2000. Each member of the band attended high school together at the time and were all Juniors. These original four members have been playing together for 4 years and have had the opportunity to record two studio albums of their original work. Their first album, 'Fallin' behind the Gravy Train' was recorded in Charlotte, NC in the spring of 2002 by Yellow Door Productions. They promoted their first album around the Charlotte local music scene for a year while playing shows at local venues such as Tremont Music Hall, Hart-Witzen Art Gallery, and high school events. As their local support grew and various musical influences began to mold their original sound further, Statefish recorded their second album, 'Offbeat' in Boston, MA at the Berklee College of Music in the spring of 2003. After the band enrolled in college at 4 different universities, including Jeff Byrnes at Berklee, they were able to promote their music across many universities that they were now affiliated with. In the months following the fall of 2003, the band began writing more material for a third album if given the opportunity to record again. Statefish began experimenting with new influences not present on their previous two albums as they continue to grow as musicians and develop their own sound. They have composed over 20 original works that most recently have incorporated the jazz styles of bassist Jeff Byrnes and drummer Tim Rebich, as well as heavier rock styles of singer Matt Maher and guitarist Greg Martin. This is a band that continues to constantly grow with every piece of music they write in an attempt to provide an increasingly diverse sound across the rock genre.
