Well, they've done it again. Just when we thought we had these Americana rockers all figured out with their unique brand of Tom Petty meets Bruce Springsteen meets Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Stewboss goes all Tom Waits meets Nick Drake on us! With their new limited edition EP, the cleverly titled l.e.e.p., Stewboss have proven they cannot be pigeon-holed into one definitive sound. The songs on l.e.e.p. are mesmerizing to say the least, with their stripped down, easy-to-hum-along-to melodies. Gregg Sarfaty is truly one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. Only time will tell for sure, but you heard it here first, he's a master storyteller. His lyrics are at once simple, almost to the point of being comical, then suddenly so poignant they leave you pondering them for days afterward. We laughed, we cried... you get the picture. The rumor-mill says this album was recorded and mixed in a day and a half at Greg Upton's Agency Only Studios. Given the material, a smattering of songs Sarfaty has been toting around for the past few years, this was the perfect way to set them down. Seven inspired performances that were not afraid to stay rough around the edges. We've dropped this one into the CD player and set it on 'stun'. We can't stop listening to it! Our only question... why couldn't you guys take an extra day and make it a full-length?!
