That Was Now (This Is Zen)
Stone Rain is a Los Angeles based, fiercely independent, two man rock band that features Brian Rooker on Guitars, keyboards, and percussion and Mark Kintis on lead vocals. We have been writing and performing original music together since 1998, and have recently released our second CD: \'Second Sight\'. Our first album "that was now (this is zen)" is available here. Brian plays all the instruments (guitars, keyboards, percussion, etc) and adds counter-lead and background vocals through out the record. He does all the vocals on the song "If Ever There was Love". Mark is the lead singer, loud (sometimes) and proud (always). Our songs typically have a mix of acoustic and electric guitars as their foundation, with powerful vocals often over complex musical passages. One of our friends referred to our sound as "Heavy Middle". We kind of liked that, so it stuck. Our writing focuses on melody (and counter melody) to provide rock songs that are easy to listen to but with enough musical sub-plots to stand up well to repeated playing. Often complex vocally, lyrically, and instrumentally, we take time (boy do we take time . . .) to add layers of instruments and vocal harmonies to bring out a full sound that one might not expect from just the two of us. The album art on "that was now (this is zen)" are watercolor paintings and calligraphy by Los Angeles Artist and friend Silvia Shiada done specifically for this record. The fourth track on this record, "The Puzzle Song", was inspired by her artwork. We\'d like to thank all who listen and support the band. It really means a lot to us. Our best regards, Brian and Mark Stone Rain All songs come to an end, but the music never stops.
