You're Not Alone
Tonesilk was born when Johan sent a song to a song competition. Beside musicians he also needed a name for it. One night he woke up from a dream with the name Stonesilk on his lips. Stonesilk won the competition with the song 'can't reach her'. The prize was a complete Marshall rig including a guitar and that the song was to be played on radio a couple of times. (The competition was hold by the Swedish magazine 'Musiker magasinet' and the radiostation 'Rock klassiker 106.7). After that johan wrote a lot of songs for Stonesilk and the goal was to record an self made album. At that time Johan had sold his appartement just to buy a small recording studio. He also lived in this studio for two years. With no money in his pocket he managed to get a record deal together with his other band 'Token'. Token recorded two albums for the German label MTM, but ... MTM later gave up their business. Token were hold on ice but Johan continued writing songs in different genres. He also tried to write songs for other artists. One song is to be released by the Swedish singer Sanna Nielsen. A few more songs are on hold around the world. Besides that, songs like 'Down' reached the final in an American song competition. Another song 'Hold Me Up' got positive respons from publishers, among others, Warner Chappel and Big world publishing, but a problem was that they couldn't think of an artist that the song could fit. Johan therefore dicided to use them for Stonesilk. After 2 years of struggling, an album finally started to take shape... 11 songs were finally (for the 5th time..) recorded out of 50. The first songs was recorded with Federico de Costa on drums - but he disappeared on tour with the Swedish Idol winner Marcus Fagervall and therefore Tor Pentén who just left the world famous band Rednex joined. Fredrik Schöbeck who also played bass in Token at the end also joined. During the recording Johan (who also acted as producer) took a break since he met the well known producer Anders 'Henkan' Henriksson (known from among others one of Sweden's top artists - Magnus Uggla) and had the privilege to help him produce the Swedish wellknown band Thorleifs - that was a totaly(!) different genre but sure gave a distance and new ears for completing the Stonesilk album...
