Play It Again
The Strings of Time is a father and son duo. We play easy listening American classics,on guitar and bass guitar. Our style is often described by listeners as: 'mellow, refreshing, sophisticated and distinctive'. "We play love songs because they are songs of love. They add to the world rather than take away from it". Troy Higgins Most of our songs are love songs and could be classified as standards, smooth jazz, or swing. Some tunes have bossa nova or other Latin rhythms. All of our arrangements are new and refreshing, created just for guitar and bass guitar. We also do a number of our own originals. "Jazz ... It's not what you play, but how you play it". Troy Higgins When we record we use just two guitars: no over-dubbing or tricks. We want the sound you hear on our CDs to be just like we sound live. Troy has a degree in computer science and Marvin a degree in engineering. Troy started playing organ at age 8, then piano. He has now played the bass guitar for about 5 years. Marvin has played the guitar all his life. Since Marvin retired several years ago we have played regularly in restaurants, wineries and coffee houses in our area. We both enjoy the opportunity music gives us to develop and express our creative side. Troy Higgins and Marvin Higgins.
