Beneath the Sun
Sugar Groove is based out of Northern New Jersey. The songwriter, Scott Hogan, has been a working musician since the age of 15. The band's music is a blend of r&b, reggae, jazz, and funk weaved into a pop package. The musicians love the music of the 70's and it's reflected in their playing. Scott Hogan spent several years touring with the pop group Hanson, which included a performance on the 99' Grammy Awards and 5 performances on the David Letterman Show. Scott studied under jazz bassist/composer John Patittucci and attended NYU as a jazz performance major. 'Beneath the Sun' is the band's first CD. The song 'Barbados' is going to be featured on a rastafarian surfing tv show entitled 'Island Hoppers'. The song was also placed on a compilation disc entitled 'The Blow Up Compilation' released by Mezonic Records. 'Pushing Uphill' has been played on Radio Crystal Blue out of Brooklyn, and will soon be heard on Kanaljazz out of Paris.
