BIO: Garth A. Harvey a.k.a. Sun RaS Performer, Producer, Arranger, Pannist Sun RaS was born in the Caribbean on the island of Trinidad and Tobago. He Migrated to the U.S. in the late sixties and presently residing in Los Angeles, California. 'I was exposed to music at an early age... My aunt who was a music teacher introduced me to violin, which I learned very well... ' Being from Trinidad the land of Kalypso, Soka, and the steel drums (instrument), Sun RaS was fascinated by the sounds and took interest in the bass instrument, which he has mastered and continues to play. At a very young age Sun RaS was a member of the San Juan All Stars and was instrumental in creating the EastSide Symphony, which is now Potential Symphony Orchestra. 'Interestingly though, the art of Kalypso singing by one of the Kalypso bard, 'Lord Melody' did capture my soul... My personal objective is to become a driving force in my commitment and dedication to these art forms. The love of Kalypso has gotten me into composing, arranging, and lyrical writing...' In 1991 Sun RaS released Kalypso Man, which featured Savannah Jam Down, Enjoy Yourself, and Kalypso Man. The first album received air play on several radio stations in New York, Los Angeles and across the Caribbean. The New Sun RaS Album 'Gimme'Room' released in 2006 is expected to sell and play worldwide. Finding new listeners across the world with special arrangements to be performed at major festivals and concerts.
