Susana Travassos was born in Algarve, in Vila Real de Santo António, a city where she grew up and experienced a profusion of musical and cultural styles which later would influence her artistic career. Her musical path begins pretty early. As a child, her warm and crystalline voice anticipated already the intention to live music intensely, discovering new paths. This is why she starts playing the accordion and, later, the piano. This musical experience makes her aware of her vocal capacity as a communication vehicle with the world. When she sings, her voice mirrors her emotions and convictions. She then takes up singing classes at the music conservatory of Maria Campina, in Faro, and she completes them at the Hot Club of Portugal, in Lisbon, where she also deepens her musical training. There are many different sounds crossing Susana's universe. She loves difference and the fusion that she can make with her, particularly between cultures... Although one can find the strong mark of Portuguese identity and Portuguese language in her music. Her fans say that Susana is a great life performer: 'she has got charisma, a voice you could die for, amazing musicians and loads of emotion and feeling'. 2008 is the year of her first solo album, Oi Elis, a tribute to one of the greatest Brazilian artists - Elis Regina - with the participation of a set of remarkable musicians and produced by the singer herself.
