In the Garden Songs to My Mother
I have been in the music business for many years. I am a songwriter and producer. I travelled overseas in 1979-1982 to entertain the military in Europe and the Pacific. I have appeared in concert with Bob Hope, Evelyn 'Champagne' King, Sister Sledge, Cameo, Tower of Power and BB King. I began singing in church at the age of 2. My mother always said I had a 'certain something' that made everyone listen. At family get togethers mom would have my sister and I sing. Mom said I loved to be in front of the camara. 'A real show off.' She would say, but mom loved to hear me belt out a tune. In March of 2006 I lost my mother to cancer she was 77. Everyday I would go to her bedside and sing some of her favorite gospel songs. When I was approached to do a CD, I wanted to include some of her favorites on the album, but I wanted to bridge the gap between jazz my first love and gospel. So 'In the Garden' was born. It is a compilation of old hymns. Done up with a jazzy, Ella Fitzgerald, sort of feel. I think you will transported to another place and time as you listen to these timeless melodies. In addition, when you buy this CD, one dollar will go to cancer research. This CD is my way of 'Fighting back'. I believe that we were placed on this earth to make a positive difference in the lives of those around us. And this is one way that you can do that. Be a blessing and be blessed! Peace.
