'A woman after God's own heart' best describes Teresa Pressley. Tears start to flow and souls are stirred, as she evokes the very presence and power of God, making it a life impacting experience when she lifts her voice with her God-given gift of song. Teresa has been singing since she was 4 years old. Even as a little girl, she was blessed to sing with incredible power and remarkable vocal ability. Teresa remembers how God used artists such as Phillip Bailey, Anita Baker, Peabo Bryson, Peter Cetera, Phil Collins, Ella Fitzgerald, Jennifer Holliday, Whitney Houston, Phyllis Hyman, Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Jeffery Osborne, Barbara Streisand, Donna Summer and Stevie Wonder, and many others as instruments to perfect her multi-octave range, vocal dynamics and diversity. While it was gospel artist such as Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell, Commissioned, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Richard Smallwood, Tonex, and Bebe and Cece Winans, who helped to shape her as a contemporary gospel artist. However, perhaps it was her father, who sang with Grover Washington, Jr. who was the most influential person in her life as an artist by introducing her to the world of music and inspiring her to embark on the journey towards realizing her full potential as an artist. 'To God be the glory', she says when asked about her debut CD, 'Genesis', released in May 2007 on her own independent record label, Freedom Records. In collaboration with Producer, Stan Webb of Souls Recording, Teresa proves to be a very capable contemporary gospel artist in her own right as singer, songwriter and composer on this first solo project. She is bound for national exposure with her jazzy rendition of the classic hymn, 'Walk With Me' and a bold remake of the Stevie Wonder great, 'As' with a gospel twist. Boasting 7 of Teresa's original compositions and a family tribute, Genesis celebrates the birth of a vision to fulfill a family legacy. 'It's about time', fans say about this much anticipated CD, as Teresa has gained more than 20 years of experience. Among her many accomplishments as an artist, Teresa is most humbled by her first place win in the Amateur Night Competition at the legendary Apollo Theatre in 1986, and later sharing that very same stage with Pastor Shirley Caesar and The Williams Brothers as a background vocalist for the Jenkins Brothers with whom she recorded and toured from 1986 to 1991; Not to mention having had the privilege to work with Dr. Bobby Jones, Shirley Murdock, Melissa Morgan and Glenn Jones as a member of the cast of gospel play, "Ain't Nobody Mad But The Devil" in 2000. Driven by her love for God, her family and music, Teresa is committed to being a blessing to others by spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ - a message of faith, hope and love across the globe; and just like the title 'Genesis', this is only the beginning.
