Take It Outside
The Tim and Bob Show consists of Steve & Kathy Feinstein and Don & Mary Lou Hymel. Steve and Don are guitarists, songwriters, and singers. Kathy and Mary Lou are percussionists and singers. The band has been playing professionally since the fall of 2005 in venues in San Antonio and all over South Texas. Primarily a cover band - voted San Antonio's best for 2008 by the San Antonio Current - the group specializes in songs that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s. If there is a genre that best describes The Tim and Bob Show, it would probably be "folk rock," although a typical gig might also include numbers written by Willie Nelson, Johnny Mercer, and even a Broadway show tune from time to time. Take It Outside consists of only two covers, however, as Steve and Don have taken the opportunity to showcase their self-written tunes that have become more and more popular with their audiences. Since the band enjoys listening to and performing music from several sources, it is not a surprise that the CD reflects that variety. There are straight-ahead rockers, songs that have just a touch of country, love ballads, blues numbers, and even a 1940s style torch song. Each of the band members is featured as a lead vocalist, and throughout the CD you'll hear the intricate and pure two-, three-, and four-part harmonies the band is noted for. Of the current labels given to limit the range of groups, the one that may fit best is Americana, with a little Texana thrown in. Take It Outside is meant for people who have a wide range of musical interests, like their music heavy on acoustic guitars and light on electronic pyrotechnics, are fond of the blending of multiple voices, and who like all of that combined in pleasant melodies and thoughtful lyrics.
