Snapshots of My Life
About the artist: Although I have been a mathematics teacher for over thirty years, my life in music predates and parallels that career. As a classically trained pianist, and singer/songwriter, I have been ministering in gospel music and choral directing in the Detroit area since my high school days. I have concentrated most on songwriting during the last several years, which led to the album, 'Snapshots Of My Life.' About the album: The original motivation for this recording was to create a work that my wife, Rosemarie, and I could share with each other, as well as family and friends, in honor of our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Several of the songs I wrote over the years have been woven into a collage of snapshots of our married life - from courtship and love, to the birth of a son, through death and tragedy, to our faith in God. My newest song, 'We Are America,' is a response to the events of September 11, 2001. This song has been added to the original album, for this is a snapshot in the lives of all Americans that will remain in our hearts and minds forever. About the songs: The following comments come from some of those who have listened to the album. 'Your songs are moving, amusing and straight from the heart.' 'We listen to the message in each song that flows from Tom's heart and soul...love, life, tears, laughter, honest emotion and most of all - revernce and thanksgiving to God.' 'THAT EARLY JOURNEY HOME is so poignant and healing.' 'Your warmth, love, sensitivity and profound faith echoed throughout my house as I played and replayed your CD.' 'Your CD is such a blessing. I expressly love the song entitled PASS IT ON (EACH GENERATION).' 'The sentiments you expressed are so honest and truly significant that we will treasure them.' 'The lyrics in WE ARE AMERICA move me to tears at times, and pride and great love for my country. I love the way you ended the song - simply stated 'America', and with such feeling.' 'BUT MORE THAN THIS is the song best suited to catch the skeptic's attention.' Some may view this album as highly personal and even very sentimental, but that's really it's purpose. We've all experienced a number of the truths expressed here. The arrangements are well done and easy to listen to, clearly presenting the messages of the songs with variety and clarity.
