History Tramtracks' origins go back to 2003, when Toivo Pilt, as keyboard player for recently re-formed 1970s Australian progressive rock band Sebastian Hardie, was supporting the Sydney and Melbourne concerts for progressive rock legends Yes, a tour that was instigated by long-time friend Robert Forbes and a group of fans in Australia and New Zealand - YesFANZ. The creative high of those magical days had to continue in some way, so it was decided to meet regularly to play and record music, purely for the fun and fulfilment of it. Forbes set up a recording studio in the sleepy inner Sydney village suburb of Glebe, and at first the music was purely keyboard and synthesizer based, with a theremin being added later. After some weeks old friend Mark Hudson appeared on the scene with his small arsenal of guitars. Hudson played with James Reyne in an early version of Australian Crawl, and had also played with Max Sharam and other Sydney groups. Later on, Athol Spraggs contributed on many sessions assisting with engineering and bass and drum programmes. Tracks are first performed live, and the first take is the basis for building a song. Instruments include various keyboards and synthesisers, theremin, guitars, bass, drum programmes and electronic drums. New material is being prepared which also includes muted trumpet. We call it "progressive chill"
