I Could Be Your Angel
Houston-based Domonic Eagleton and Jeff Phelps formed the musical group Two Souls in 2001 while working together as long time members of the city's popular Next Level Band. Their new CD, entitled 'I Could Be Your Angel', reflects their unique songwriting style and combines various elements of smooth R&B, pop, hip-hop and rock, with just the right amount of variety. All songs were written and performed by Domonic (vocals) and Jeff (keyboards, sax, programming). With passion that is becoming an increasingly rare entity in todays music industry, the sultry Domonic sings the title track over Jeff's smooth music arrangement in a way that let's you know she can be far more than an angel in your life. With help from good friend and premier guitarist, Rick Marcel, rounding out the track, the song gets your attention quickly with it's seductive rhythm, while Domonic's voice and words hold you in place. The 2nd song, Understanding Me, reminds you that patience and understanding are keys to long term relationships with those who are a little more high maintenance than some. I'll Stay Forever is a uptempo pop song that incorporates a distant reggae feel while Can You Give Me What I Want? is closer to rock with thick guitar supplemented by syncopated keyboard parts. Both songs feature driving guitar solos by Rick that help them stand out even more. Overall, the CD is an easy listen and provides both originality and variety.
