Ubah the EP
Who is Ubah I'm a feminist in a thong bikini, a student in this human experience, a giver and taker, a lover. Winning, failing, learning, creating. Often flawed and often magnificent. I represent the working class, the blue-collars, the injured and insulted. I want to pour love onto every inch of the human surface. Where Am I From I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark to immigrant parents from Somalia. I was raised in Stockholm, Sweden and worked as a dishwasher for a convalescent home during my teens. I also worked as a journalist for a youth magazine. I sang at every talent show in my high school and have been a song writer from an early age. I moved to the Americas seduced by capitalism and blossomed into an NFL-watching, Starbucks-guzzling, Holiday-celebrating gal. I finished college and started singing outside of the shower. Here I am. 'Reminiscent of Paul Simon's Graceland period, Ubah's songs have an exotic ambiance and world-music sensibility that are deftly tethered within a pop structure. Ubah is both sensual and ethereal, but also projects a depth that is, at times, heart rendering. This artist brings something totally new to the scene." -Bernard Bauer- Music Connection Magazine 'The Soil' is a song that embodies the best of what music can be, it has touched me to tears. Thank you luv, for your beautiful self, your inspiring music, and meaningful lyrics' -YAZ, BROOKLYN-NY 'Your voice & music have struck a chord w/ me. Truly.' -MICHAEL S. 'Bella 'Religion' ... voce particolare ...Complimenti' -Giovanni, Roma.
